Nor-Lake, Incorporated, a division of Standex International Corporation; a leader in the commercial refrigeration industry is seeking a Custom Walk-In Design Technician / Electronic Document Coordinator to use their skills in drafting software to customize refrigerated walk-in designs within established parameters and coordinate electronic document retention by maintaining a functional database system; as authorized to optimize Nor-Lake's profits.  


This individual will be responsible for being the primary backup for reviewing all production packets by others prior to releasing to the Production Control Department. In addition to assisting department members with design and manufacturing standards questions, they will be the backup for investigating and assisting in trouble shooting problems on the production floor and answer questions from the Sales Department regarding special construction needs or field problems and work with the Applications Department on field issues or complex design items, as needed.


This is a salaried, non-exempt weekly paid position with full time benefits. Salary is based on experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience that supports the ability to learn a proprietary design software program and an ERP system.
  • Knowledge and skill in using Microsoft Word and Excel for creating and editing files.
  • Strong organization skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to find creative and cost-effective solutions.
  • Ability to be adaptable to design changes and to interpret Sales Department requests and process changes due to machine or engineering changes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Need to communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain and improve CAD skills.
  • Experience maintaining and programming electronic file databases and related applications and setting up functional storage and retrieval parameters.  


Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Drafting, Design Technology or equivalent related experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of design software (AutoCAD or similar) experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience developing and maintaining an easily usable convention for naming, storing and retrieving electronic documents.
  • Demonstrated progression of advancing job responsibilities and leadership and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to set up Bill of Materials and Methods of Operation structures so products will flow through the shop floor in the most efficient manner.
  • Experience and knowledge of walk-in manufacturing processes a plus.
  • VBA programming skills, relational database application design and development skills, inter-application programming skills, Computer hardware and software troubleshooting skills a plus.
  • Project Management skills. Ability to manage complex long-term projects a plus.
