Manages Logistics and Shipping/Crating activities related to Walk-In, Cabinet, Warranty Service and off site Ware Housing related shipping activities.

Directs inbound/outbound traffic duties in the following activities:

  • Selects NorLake preferred carriers for inbound and outbound shipments, including common carriers, dedicated truck lines and air freight companies, and maintains constant review of the carrier's performance.
  • Advises Sales Specialists in routing shipments and records customer requested routings.
  • Calculate quote requests for Manufacturing Sales Representatives within a 24 hour period.
  • Assists Buyers in routing inbound shipments
  • Coordinates air bill preparation and order pickup on air shipments.
  • Coordinates dedicated truck shipments, determining quantity of freight to maximize trailer space and timely scheduling of trucks for pick up and delivery.
  • Authorizes any additional service requested for delivery
  • Traces shipments when necessary and expedites through proper channels.
  • Works directly with shipping in regards to any carrier issues.

As a member of Standex Freight Council,

  • Assists in negotiating favorable pricing levels and services covering shipment of NorLake inbound materials and F.O.B. destination of finished goods and parts.
  • Negotiates favorable classification and pricing levels covering shipment of NorLake finished goods and parts for our customers requesting this service.
  • Reviews and maintains all carrier tariffs, discounts and documentation of same.
  • Maintains the relationship with Standex's current 3PHL (OHL) in regards to auditing freight invoices, etc.
  • Maintains current processes regarding drop ship containers to Nor-Lake customers and the Simpsonville Distribution Center.

Maintains awareness of industry news and legislation that may affect customer service, such as pending carrier strikes, carrier financial problems, legal requirements, expected rate/discount changes, etc.

Performs all functions relating to freight claims. Reviews shipments and assists with Receiving Department to complete inspection reports, arranges and assists with carrier's inspection, determines amount of claim, prepares all documents, files claims, invoices carrier for claims and follows up on unresolved claims.

Prepares monthly traffic reports covering outstanding freight claims, claims filed and resolved, and shipment/claim ratio. Prepares yearly traffic reports covering a review of all claims, reviews product damage, ration shipments to claims, third party shipments.

Prepares/reviews all documentation for export shipments and determines amount of duty, tax, brokerage, etc. fees on export shipments, when applicable. Determines requirements for export crating and/or containerization.

Maintains export process in regards to tariff codes, legal, etc.

Responsible for Leading and Direction of Shipping/Crating

Inventory

Insure proper storage and accuracy of inventories under the control of the Shipping Department.

Facilitate accurate and timely cycle counting of items under the control of the Shipping Department. Assist the Cycle Counter with all reconciliations.

Shipping

Communicate with Cabinets, Foam Walk-In and Refrigeration Departments on any problems with shipping schedules. Issue Ship Alerts for ship dates that cannot be made. 

Responsible for the accuracy of daily shipping paperwork to insure that shipments have been made correctly and that work processes support orderliness and organization.

Communicate and schedule with truck lines for timely shipment of all products (excluding air shipments).

Audit Bill of Materials (BOMs) and top level errors. Notify the appropriate department (Sales, CAD, Engineering) and determine how they are going to handle the problem.  (example: substitute another material, push ship date out).

Issue Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to correct Bill of Materials (BOMs).

Responsible for the research, documentation and reporting of all Shipping Department errors.

Production

Responsible for the planning, organizing, direction and controlling the shipping activities to meet the company's goals and standards. These activities include proper picking of panels and parts for

shipments, proper crating of all panels, parts and accessories, inventory storage plans (internal and off site) for shipping inventory and the accurate and efficient loading of all products.

Responsible for documentation and reporting of all Shipping Department damage.

Responsible for trade show preparations. (Setting up products for the sales department to choose and inspect and then shipping products to the specified trade show location.)  

Responsible for the set-up of all test walk-ins (so the quality department can inspect before they are shipped)

Minimum  Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Management/Administration with an emphasis in Supply Chain & Operational Management plus 5 years experience in logistics operations or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
