Main Purpose of Job

Sets up and operates amada pega punch, amada blanking shear, and auto storage rack on flexible manufacturing system line.

 

Examples of Duties:

Operates N.C. Unit Control Panels, knows corresponding functions of automatic operations, operation interrupts, program editing, program sequence and number search, alarm message, and enters tape programs.
 

Knows functions of N.C. Machine Tools, Computer Control System, System Monitor, and how they relate to operator's panels on F.M.S. Line.
 

Loads and unloads punches and dies in correct turret stations on punch according to preprogrammed tool list on each program.
 

Performs daily and monthly maintenance specified in operators' manuals for F.M.S. equipment and assists maintenance department in finding mechanical problems.
 

Operates Amada Amacon Nesting Computer System by selecting appropriate commands, error message, and edit functions from a menu program with the use of computer keyboards.
 

Uses knowledge of scheduling and selecting materials to be used for nesting to efficiently meet production schedule and avoid excessive scrap.
 

Reads micrometer, caliper, square, and tape ruler accurately.
 

Sharpens and maintains dies on tool grinder as required.
 

Meets all quality and production standards.
 

Reads and interprets shop drawings to check parts within specified tolerance.
 

Identifies materials and gob numbers on travel tickets for next operation in shop.
 

Operates overhead crane when necessary to put metal on carts.
 

Operates fork lift to put metal in auto-storage rack.
 

Trains new personnel in the safe, efficient operations, and set-up on the F.M.S. equipment.
 

Detects defects in metal and takes corrective action.
 

Responsible for housekeeping on the F.M.S. Line and area.
Complies with all company policy and safety regulations.
 

Understands thoroughly and is knowledgeable of all models and components parts of cabinet and F.W.I.
 

Sorts drop off into scrap or usable material.
 

Recommends production methods, product design, and improvements on quality.
 

Supervises a helper part of the time as required.
 

Moves material to press brakes area as needed.
 

Stacks parts from conveyors.
 

Uses small hand tools as needed.
 

Accurately records job time on time tickets.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic arithmetic computation including fractions.

Skill in manipulating and interpreting a tape measure.

Skill in reading and interpreting floor plans, blueprints and assembly instructions.

Skill in using small hand and power tools.

Ability to comprehend and follow work instructions and company policies.

Ability to evaluate and resolve problems.

Ability to communicate with others in a professional and productive manner.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally.

Ability to work in a production environment without air conditioning.

Ability to grasp and manipulate small parts and hand tools.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicable sheet metal fabrication experience is desirable.
